From Larne to Los Angeles

From Larne to Los Angeles is a new 6 part series exploring the history of the Ulster Scots migration from Scotland through Ireland and on to America,  told through the stories of some of their most colourful characters.

How they influenced Ulster / Irish / World history, started the move for American independence once they moved there, drafted the Declaration of Independence and designed the Great Seal of America (Derry man Charles Thomson), dominated Politics, Commerce and Invention in USA. Shaped the “Free World” as we know it today.

If all else fails, I will retreat up the valley of Virginia, plant my flag on the Blue Ridge, rally around the Scotch-Irish of that region, and make my last stand for liberty amongst a people who will never submit to British tyranny whilst there is a man left to draw a trigger.

George Washington, at Valley Forge.

"The Scots-Irish were the first to proclaim for freedom of these United States; even before Lexington, Scots-Irish blood had been shed for American freedom. In the forefront of every battle was seen their burnished mail and in the retreat was heard their voice of constancy".
