Fáilte go hÉireann

Fáilte go hÉireann (Welcome to Ireland) is a short film funded as part of the LASAIR scheme by Filmbase from Dublin and TG4.

Dr. Roger Mukumbya has been persecuted in his homeland of Nigeria. Hoping for a better life he stows away inside a container bound for Ireland. When he is caught at the customs and the police become involved his Welcome to Ireland is not what he expected. However, when he meets Garda Noel Cleary, whom he befriended at an athletics meeting years previously, he hopes that things will work out. But will prejudice and racism get in the way.

This is Director Graham Cantwells last short before he helmed his first feature Anton in 2007.
